hI! i DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN DO THAT. wELL, YES YOU CAN. SORT OF. yES,YOU CAN FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE, BUT NO, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO USE THE EXTERNAL cd TO LOAD wINDOWS 2000 AFTER THAT. oR DID YOU WANT TO INSTALL FIRST AND THEN FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE?

well what i wanted to  do was to use my external cd burner during windows 2000 setup to format my hard drive and then install windows. but, ive tried everything that i can possibly think of and it doesnt work.

ok, well thanks for your help, but i solved the problem! hehe i borrowed some1s cdrom drive, hooked it up and everything went well. turns out i have a 20gig hard drive, half  wasnt partitioned or something. oh well.
