ive got a really big problem
ok, ive got a really big problem with my sisters friends laptop. its a long story so i better start at the beginning.
ok, well my sisters friend was taking some course, so they had her duel boot windows 2000 server with windows ME. Since she finished the course, she no longer needs it like this. The windows 2000 server is only a trial which i believe will run out soon. Even worse, the hard drive isnt that big, only 4 gigs at the most, and all she has is around 400 megs left. So, she wants me to get rid of both and put windows 2000 on it.
the problem now is that we dont have a cdrom drive with us, and all ive got is an external cd burner with me. it doesnt detect the drive when i run the setup with the disks (shes got a floppy). I want to know if i can put the cd in and select install while im on the desktop, and get a chance to format my hard drive.
Computer Specs:
- dell inspiron 4000
- 128mb RAM
- 195mb pagefile
- 3.89 GB hard drive
- win 2000 server & windows ME (duelboot)
- 847mhz processor
any help greatly appreciated! thanks!

hI! i DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN DO THAT. wELL, YES YOU CAN. SORT OF. yES,YOU CAN FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE, BUT NO, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO USE THE EXTERNAL cd TO LOAD wINDOWS 2000 AFTER THAT. oR DID YOU WANT TO INSTALL FIRST AND THEN FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE?
cAPICHE?
