Java script error in IE after service pack 1 update in Vista
Recently, I installed service pack 1 for Vista to my parent's computer. After the install, they started noticing some weird things going on with their Internet Explorer (7.0). When they try to check their aol email, the box comes up where the username and password are normally entered, but the box is completely empty and won't allow anything to be entered into it. I tried to check my Comcast mail from their computer and it came up with an error message saying the the javascript is not enabled. I went through all of the settings on their IE and javascript is enabled (as well as meta fresh).
To see if the problem truly was an error with IE, I used their computer to go online using Firefox. Both AOL and Comcast mail worked fine on Firefox. I thought that maybe the Vista update may have changed some settings in their McAfee, but the screen for McAfee won't even load up because it relies on windows scripting. Does anyone know of something that I can try to fix this problem. I'm sure it's some setting that got changed when the update was done, but I can't find anything on the web that works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. It is possible that you may be running Java code in your applications that absolutely require a specific version of the JRE to run. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.
- Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
- Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u7 allows end-users to run Java applications".
- Click the "Download" button to the right.
- Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
- The page will refresh.
- Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
- Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
- Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
- Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
- Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
- Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each of the Java versions.
- Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
- Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u7-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Official JAVA Installation Instructions if needed.
