Unregister and re-register the Windows Installer 1.Click
Start, click
Run, type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER, and then click
OK. Even if you do this correctly, it may look like nothing occurs.2.Click
Start, click
Run, type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER, and then click
OK. Even if you do this correctly, it may look like nothing occurs, or you may briefly see an hourglass. After you run this command, the operation is complete.3.
Try your Windows Installer-based application again.
If you are trying to install Java from a link on a secure website;i.e., a site on which you must login and provide a password, it will not complete the install. I recommend you go directly to
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_ie.jsp. Download the Java installation package. Restart your computer. Click on the Java installation file that you downloaded. It should install with no problems.
I tried your advice, but nothing worked. Even the Windows installer won't install. It gets to the last few percent and then rolls back. I appreciate everything you did to help me, though. Thanks.
