latitude e5520 system reset

i am trying to do a simple factory reset on a dell latitude e5520.

i've restarted,

hit f8

chose repair my computer

selected a language

logged in as administrator

and in system recovery tools clicked back up and recovery manager.

this is where it all goes south.  the cursor blinks at me, and then spins then stops with absolutely no result.  not sure what else to do after this point except scream like a lunatic and start hitting it with a hammer, but i would really like to just be able to do a simple restore to original state, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi smcg13,

The Dell Backup and Recovery application seems to be corrupted. I would advise you to reinstall the Dell Backup and Recovery application on the system using the link below and check if you are able to restore the system.

Please let me know if this helps.

thank you very much, that did it.  i wasn't sure if that was a component that could be uninstalled and reinstalled or not.
