Latitude E6510, keyboard backlight

I have a problem with the backlit keyboard on my Dell Latitude E6510 (refurbished, from Dell Direct). Backlight function worked fine from the time I got the E6510 (03/2014) until several weeks ago. Because it was not working, I ran Dell Diagnostics scan, which indicated the original HD was operating “outside normal parameters.” I assume maybe that had an impact on the non-functioning backlight.  I therefore replaced with a Sandisk SSD but cannot get the backlight function to work.  I saw a blogpost about accessing the "Windows Mobility Center" in order to adjust keyboard brightness, but when I accessed it there was no “Keyboard Brightness” option present.  I'm assuming somehow the backlight function is disabled and needs to be re-enabled.  Any ideas how I can re-enable the keyboard brightness function? Thx.

For our users to assist, we need to know what operating system you installed.

Sorry.  Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit.

I cloned the old hard drive to the new SSD, and then just swapped them out.  Also, remember that the backlight function stopped working several weeks before I swapped out the HD.  I did use Dell Detect to determine whether I need to update any drivers, and it indicated (3) drivers that should be updated:  (1) Chipset |ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver, (2) Security |Dell ControlVault Windows Biometric Framework Driver , and (3) BIOS |Dell Latitude E6510 System BIOS, A10.  I tried to download and install all 3, but for some reason it seems to only let me download the files.  When I open the files to try to install, it does not seem to complete the process.  Unfortunately I'm not nearly as tech savvy as I'd like to be able to sort this out.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you reinstalled the Windows 7 operating system, did you then install all five of the Chipset drivers?

To confirm, pressing Fn + → does not change the keyboard light?

Sounds like the "cloning" did not bring your rights over. Do you have admin rights? Consider doing a complete clean install of the operating system.

Did a clean install of Win7 Pro, when I use Dell Detect to determine what drivers to add/update, it lists (5):

1.  Chipset | ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver

2.  Chipset | Intel Chipset Driver

3.  Security | Dell ControlVault Windows Biometric Framework Driver

4.  Serial ATA |Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Pre-OS Install) Driver

5.  BIOS | Dell Latitude E6510 System BIOS, A10

I downloaded them all, but cannot seem to get them to install.  In particular, the A10 BiOS just yields the popup message "E6510A10.exe has stopped working." with the option for Windows to check online for a solution (which yields none).

Laptop seems to work fine otherwise, but I'd really like to recover the keyboard backlight function.  Still at a loss.
