Latitude X1 with issues

Question

Oh where to start. I am thinking I may as well just toss this laptop. It first started as just the desktop would not load. That is still happening. There are two MS XP OS's loaded. I did the correct steps to remove the bad on and rebooted the computer to find it back on there. UGH! Now I can not get anything removed. I go to the add/remove programs screen and it will allow me to click on change/remove, but nothing happens! Please help!!!
