Latitude X300: Boot Windows 98 from USB disk?

Hello!

I'm planning on buying an external USB disk (40 GB), since the drive in the X300 is starting to get a bit cramped. So it occured to me that I might be able to keep a small partition on the new disk formatted as FAT32 and install Windows 98 on it, to play the pile of older games I have laying around that won't work on Win XP (no, not even under "compatibility" mode). Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm not concerned about networking, power management and such things, all I need is an image on the screen and preferrably sound in my headphones. I could probably install it on my main drive as well, but it's already pretty full of stuff I use on a daily basis, and I'd also have to shuffle around a lot of partitions, since I already have both Win XP and Gentoo Linux on it, meaning I don't really have the option of creating more primary partitions.

Hmm, I guess my questions basically are: Will Windows 98 SE support the X300 hardware, and will I be able to boot from the USB disk (I assume this won't be a problem, just a setting in the BIOS telling the PC to boot from the USB port if a bootable partition is available there)?

Cheers!
