Lattitude e6220 os install problem.

Ok. I have a dell lattitude e6220 and it was running windows7 ultimate but was haveing log in issues. So I tried  every windows install disk I have formated both sections as I do with any other computer ive worked on, and I keep getting the same result wich is,                                                       "windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computers hardware.  But then I go to install windows 8 pro and it goes through.? Very odd Ithink. Im ok with haveing windows 8 on Iit but the only issue is theres no wifi drivers? I think I found the drivers I need but its not compatable with windows 8? Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Okay you need to install the chipset drivers and the rest of the system drivers.

It'll help to be at the latest BIOS A13 for Windows 8.1:

As Dell don't support Windows 8.0/8.1 on this system we are going to have to take drivers with the same/similar hardware from newer systems.

  • Dell Wireless 1503 - 6.30.223.143 - Installer will not work it has to be manually updated via the device manager. Although you should retry with your original Dell Wireless 1530 Card. The driver should work with this.
  • Broadcom Bluetooth Update
  • IDT Audio Driver for Windows 8.1 - 6.10.0.6491 - Installer might not work if so it has to be manually updated via the device manager. You might also want to provide Hardware IDs for the audio device

For installation of a driver via device manager see page 307 and to check the hardware IDs see page 132 in Windows Reinstallation Guide: http://philipyip.wordpress.com/dell-community-forums/

Looks like you have installed the Ethernet and not the wireless card. Did you install the Dell Wireless 1503 driver for Windows 7?
