Less-than-user-friendly board software
If it takes more time for the user to compose a message than the login timeout, the board software does not preserve the user's message. Instead, it requires the user to log in again, and then returns the user to a blank message composition page. I just spent more than half an hour describing how I successfully cleaned a Latitude keyboard and avoided having to install a new one. Too bad... (although I'm sure your parts department will be happy.)

Hotrock,
I noticed the same thing yesterday afternoon and into the evening, however so far this morning I have not seen the problem.
A glitch in the Matrix maybe....
