Links will not open

Question

I am finding links I receive by E-mail that will not open when I click to open, instead the link goes to a flashing orange link on the task bar, The only way I can open the link is click on the blinking link in the task bar or X out of Outlook Express and the page is underneath.  I called a Dell Tech today she tried changing several things including System Restore but nothing changed. She told me I have to call a software Tech which would cost a fee for services, My computer is one month old today and I feel this is very unfair. Is there someone who can help me correct this problem? All antivirus, Firewall, and spyware programs are up to date. HI im having the same problem, except I here a 'bell' sound when I try to click on a link.  Did you ever figure it out??

Hi - try using the 'Ctrl' key when you click on the link.  It works for me. Deb White

WOW! Thanks Deb...it really works.  Do you have any idea why (I didn't have to do that before).  Even so, I'm so glad I can now easily click on my links. Lisa

I haven't done any research as to why this happens - I didn't have the problem with my 1 year old Dell - but with my new system it has been like that since day 1. I thought it might be McAfee causing the problem as that is only difference from my other machine (I use Zone Alarm and Norton on it.)
