Linux Ubuntu and games

Question

If i get a computer from dell with linux ubuntu will i be able to play games, and if so all of the ones i can play on my windows xp? Or only certin ones?   Thanks for your help!   soaringeagle

You won't be able to just drop in a Windows installer CD into the system and install a game. There are some games that have Linux versions, but there aren't a ton. Most people have to set up some form of Windows emulation. If you do a google search for Ubuntu and Windows Games, you can find a lot of information about how to make it work.

note that if you do use wine,

#1- not everything will work
#2- it is severely inefficient. your specs will need to be AT LEAST 4X (excluding ram although make sure you have a decent swap partition) what the minimum is for the program.

i ride the fense almost exclusively for this reason (although there are others). use windows for games and linux for everything else
