Go to the Properties Tab in the Device Manager for that particular device.

Do I then look at the Drivers tab? Is the driver version the same thing as the firmware version?

The driver version is not the same as the firmware version. In Device Manager, go to the Properties for the CD-ROM and click on Details tab. The list will probably be showing the Device Instance ID. Click the arrow next to that and scroll down the list to Firmware Revision. It may or may not show the firmware info for your particular drive.

If you're thinking of doing a firmware update, usually, but NOT always, the update software will prompt you by saying you have firmware version ABC, do you want to replace it with version XYZ? So you may be able to figure out if you have the latest version that way.

In the Device instance ID line, the firmware number is the xxx given in the part that looks like this ___________xxx___ after the drive name.
