Logging on as Administrator
How do you actually log on as administrator?
Took possession of my new Dimension 4700 with XP
Followed the set up instructions and created profiles for all 5 family members after setting up admin password etc.
When I turn on, all 5 family member icons are there and off we go!
However, when trying to install some software, it says you must be logged on as administrator. Great! I know the password! But how do you actually do this! Where is the administrator log on page?
Am I missing something?

You only need to be logged on in an administrator account, not as the system administrator. However, to log on as system administrator boot to Safe Mode in XP Home (the procedure works in Normal Mode in XP Professional). At the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice, enter Administrator as the user name and leave the password blank. If the blank password does not work (it should, as it is the default setting) change the password using the procedure given here.
