low available physical memory

Last week my computer starting running extremely low.  I have 256MB memory but when I go into system info, I find that I may be running on 20 or 30--or less.  I also went into the system summary and under conflicts I see Nvidia written many times.  Is this what is casing the memory loss?  I have no idea what Nvidia is.  also several times my computer just locks up and I can't get into it unless I unplug it and then plug it back in and start over.  help, please!

icf89,

NVidia is your system's graphics adapter and it is normal to see it listed several times in Conflicts/Sharing because it shares addresses. Your problem is probably due to either a virus or spyware. Do a full system scan with your antivirus program (with updated virus signatures) to rule out that possibility. Then download either Ad-aware from here and/or Spybot from here. Check online for updates to their databases then run either and delete all the spyware they identify.
