Macromedia Flashplayer/MSN chat problem

I downloaded the current version of MSN chat 7.5 several months ago, and to my puzzlement, when I tried to use one of the "winks" I get an error message to say that I need to install the Flash Player.

So when I downloaded the flash.exe file, and installed it, exited the MSN chat program, and re-opened MSN chat, nothing happened.

I dunno what is going on, but maybe I'm thinking that I'd need to uninstall flash, uninstall MSN, and reinstall MSN...? Or is it something else?

Please advise. (I have Firefox 1.5)

thanks.

Go to the Macromedia Test and see if your installation of Flash is working. If it is, then your problem could be with MSN.

I have the flash player tested and it's fine on that end. So the problem is with MSN.

What's the next step? Uninstall & reinstall?

Please advise.
