Major problem with Dell CPU.

Question

Hi, my name is Mike and about two years ago I bought a Dell Dimensions 8300 from this very site. About a week ago I downloaded the critical updates that Microsoft sent me, like I have been for months, and had to restart my computer as always. Well, this was probably the worst thing I could of done. When I tried to start up my computer again, it was very ,very slow. After the intro screen it finally go up to the screen where you choose the user, as always I chose Mike, but then I got an error that said exactly:   Explorer.exe-entry point not found        The procedure entry point SHcreatethread Ref could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWapi.dk   Then, I it goes the basic wallpaper of the main screen and.....nothing. No start, no icons, just the wallpaper on the background. I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Delete and sure enough everything was working fine, except their was no explorer.exe like there should to be.   I figured oh I'll fix this (Im quite computer savy) I'll just press F1 or F10 at startup and go into safe mode. Nope, it wont work. I tried to press F1 and F10 and it isnt working at all. Meaning, neither screen isn't coming up at all.   If someone would help me with this it would be highly appreciated.

sb2 I loaded on my 8400 and my 2400 and had to take it off both. Both machines got real slow and the mouse stated acting crazy. Machines started freezing up and other goffy things. I will not load it for a long time. My 8400 is loaded and the results were the same.
