I can make a pdf file. I want to combine a scanned letter and a Word doc into the SAME pdf file. How better can I get them both together w/o printing and scanning the word doc?
I have a letter that was mailed to me. I have to scan it in. And I want to add a word doc and make 1 pdf file so I can email it. What format should I scan my letter in? Maybe I could scan it as a image and paste it into my word doc first. Or can I make 1 pdf out of 2 pdfs? Can I add more to an existing pdf?
Sorry about that. If both documents were or could be saved as .doc documents then you could import one document into the other, thus creating a two-page document and when you "print" it using (in my case) Primo PDF then it would become a 2-page pdf file. If I continue to misunderstand your question I apologize. No scanner is used using my method if both are or were .doc files. If that is not the case, what kind of document or file is the non-Word document?
I would scan it and then use the OCR software that came with the scanner to convert it to a Word document. Have done so many times. If/when that is successful then you could open that document, then copy and paste your other Word document (or import the whole document), thus creating one two-page document. The I would use my Primo PDF to "print" it to a two-page pdf file. I don't think you can make 1 pdf from 2 pdf's, but there may well be software for doing this.
If you went to the site for primopdf and read all the features, you would see

I use eDocPrinter PDF Pro. It also has merge options (append to or insert before) You create a pdf of the first item. save as some file name, then create a pdf of the second item, save as select the same file name and the options pop up. It has addon for MS Officeapps (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). It has very good bookmarking and hyperlinks in a Word document are carried over into the pdf.
I use Open Office instead of MS Office. It lets you import a scanned image into a word compatible document and then output it as a PDF, all without pdf writer add ons etc.
If your scanned letter is saved as .bmp, .jpg or .tiff, on Word toolbar click Insert>Picture>From File and browse to and select the saved scan. That will import the scan directly into your Word doc. Then you can create one pdf with the scan and whatever text you want on the second page.
If necessary, you can resize the "picture" in Word by selecting it and hovering mouse at its edge or corner where pointer should turn into arrow. Then drag the pointer to the size you need (eg, make scan fit the page).
