Mapping a network drive

Vista basic edition.

Map Network Drive

 

I map a drive letter to a shared drive on my network using a known and working username and password and I click on "remember password" and "reconnect at startup" and the drive appears and everything is fine.

 

Yet every time I reboot the system, the drive failes to reconnect (I get a message to that effect) because Vista did NOT remember the password.   Each time, I have to type in the password.

 

Microsoft doesn't care (Their motto:"If we wanted it done, we'd have done it ourselves")

 

and

 

DELL doesn't care (Their motto: "We understand your concern, have you called Microsoft?")
