memory and windows xp
Hi,
Please settle an argument, is 512Mb of RAM sufficient to run Windows XP?

Xp minimum system requirements is 128Mb of RAM See here.
Recommend 2Gb or superior though.

512 will run XP fine if all you do is basic Web browsing office aps etc.
More is better for memory hungry applications like Photoshop video editing. IOW what you need depends on what you do.

While more is better, there are diminishing returns. Anything less than 384mb is annoying to me. You'll want 512 if you run a few things always loaded into memory. I remove as much thing from starting as I can.
so yes 512 will run. There are lots of older Dells running XP just fine that cannot take more memory than 512.
