Memory Question
Hi, I have ordered an Dell Inspiron 531 with Vista Home Premium. It will be here in a day or two. I ordered 1GB of memory with the system. Is that enough to run Vista smoothly? Can I upgrade in the feature? I have an AMD Dual Core 4400 processor if that makes anything better.
I am going to be using it for my schooling, storing my music on Windows Media Player, view and edit my photos and videos, internet and little gaming (nothing big). Does anyone think I will have any problems doing what I'm doing with the system with 1GB with Vista Home Premium? Thanks

Overclocking is just a way to gain more processor speed, more power to run certain applications & gives you an opportunity to destroy your computer if you have no idea what youre doing. :D
Its no big deal, just another thing to play with.
Man, I now have a delivery date of 9/14 !!! :( Oh well, Im going to be so busy at work that I probably wont notice the time go by.
Im glad I changed my processor to INTEL. As I think it was SR45 that made me start thinking about replacing/upgrading the processor in the future & it may be easier with INTEL than with AMD.
And INTEL 'has' had a more reliable, stable product over the years & I really want something that I dont have to think about too much. Ive got enough to think about as it is.
How goes your transferring? Are we having fun yet???

I just happen to be taking a few minutes to check my emails as Ive been really busy & just coming home & going to bed so I can get some sleep for the next day.
So, for grins, I thought Id just look at my new I503 & see if its still in PRODUTION, which it has been saying it would be for another 2 weeks.
But holy jeepers, it was shipped yesterday! Says it will deliver, ( says!!! ) on Friday the 31st.
Not only will I be home that day but Ill be home all weekend & if it actually does arrive as planned Ill be all over it for 3 days!
Sweet! :)
Yes RW, I have 4 external drives & your new PC should read one with no probs...

Well, it got here yesterday & I spent the entire day playing with it.
Its pretty sweet. Im really impressed by this HUGE monitor! Its...just so darn big!
Another thing is that although this Geforce 8600 GT XXX graphics card Ive got my be considered a low end card, its still the best card Ive ever had at my disposal & it freakin' rocks. I cant imagine having a high end Geforce 8800 with the nuclear reactor on board.
Also, I put in my 2x1gb memory kit & the PC only reads 3.24 gb's. But thats cool as I understood the limitations from the beginning & was hoping to get 3.5 but Im very happy with 3.24. And I was able to tell the difference from the original configuration of 1 2x1gb kit.
I got my Audigy2 zs card installed without any problems too.
Now I need to take a walk & get outa the house for awhile. See ya...

How will a dual OS work??? I guess you wont be the first to do it tho'!
Yeah, Im thinking of upgrading the memory on my XPS laptop too. Its only running 2x512mb = 1gb right now & seems slow to me. Sooooo, a 2x1gb kit would spruce it up but at a cost of $180 !!! That seems like a lot of money for what amounts to 1 more gb of ram. Im thinking about it....
Yes, this monitor is HUGE! Im diggin' it but Im back at work & dont have much free time for the next 4 days or so. So it will just have to wait.
Later...
