Memory stick backup
If I put some files, Documents, Music, Photos...on a USB memory stick as a backup, can I have them on the stick and still on the computer?
If this is the stupidest question posted this week, do I get a prize?

Word of caution. Memory sticks are not a permanent storage solution. Memory sticks can and do fail!! Just back from 28K mile business trip with everything 'safely' backed up from my laptop onto a brand new, name brand memory stick.
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! It died somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. It isn't recognized either by the laptop or desktop PC. It's LED doesn't light up, and neither PC detects that it's connected. Fortunately, my laptop is working so not fatal -this time.
Bottom line, if they're crucial file(s), burn them to CD. And/or get a web-based email account (eg, G-mail) that offers a ton of free storage space and email the files to yourself at that address. You can retrieve them from any PC with web access, anywhere in the world. My 2 cents...
