menu bars wont go away

Trying to watch a DVD using media center 2005 - the top window bar, and the controls menu bar, stay on the screen even with no mouse movement. And should I be using media player instead?

Thanks...

I have had the same thought when I discovered the same MCE behavior.  What I found is that if MCE launches when you insert the DVD, things will disappear when there is no mouse movement.  When MCE is already started, the behavior you speak of is true.

I nipped the whole thing in the bud and just bought the version 6 PowerDVD as an OEM Dell upgrade for 39.99.

I'll try that... so what are the advantages of "PowerDVD" over media player or media center?

The big differences are...

second generation color enhancement
better handling of screen and display type (letterbox, panscan, wide)
sound enhancement for 2.1 speaker systems to emulate surround sound (its pretty cool - love it)
decoders for just about every format you can think of (including DivX and Xvid)

40 smackers well spent in my book.

Alternative would be

Sonic
WinDVD

I have used both of those as well in the past.  I personally like the PowerDVD.
