microphone input

For my old computer, I can plug in a microphone and my voice can come out of the computer speakers. I can't figure out how to make my new computer do that, anyone knows?

I tried that, but in the volume control panel that pops up, there is no column for microphone.

When the volume control options are open, at the top click options and then properties. The click the checkbox next to microphone and open click OK.

Then check that the microphone is not muted.

You might try double clicking the volume option icon on the bottom right corner and making sure the microphone is unmuted.

Let me know if that works

In the volume control window, click options again and tell me if there is more than one audio device and if so, be sure to select which one has the microphone available. The you should have the microphone option.

I found the microphone in the recording section. Is there any way to have the microphone show up in the playback section as well?
