Microsoft Windows XP SP2 - Error message -Backup browser
I have been monitoring my laptop's error log and have recently noticed the following error message:-
The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{E90A4B74-368C-4667-B523-E4EA30FD5AC1}. The backup browser is stopping
I have consulted the Windows help file obtainable from the pop up box associated with this message but, as a novice user, I do not understand the content.
Following a recent re-installation of XP SP2 - the error log did not record this message. However, since XP detected files available from "My Network Places" (my son's computer on our home network) I have been receiving the error messages concernting the back up browser.
I think, I have established that this is not a major problem unless it occurrs frequently during a session of continuous laptop use. I also believe that it is not associated with my Internet IE7 browser.
Please could Forum readers advise me on how I may stop receiving the error message and whether there is anything to be concerned about in receiving this message?
I am using a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop
Thank you
David
