Microsoft Works Update detection.

Microsoft Works Update detection is trying to access the Net.  The Notice is. " Information about this Program is ready to be sent to the Program Alert Advisor to help you designate permission for this program."  what is this all about.  This request to connect to the Net only started about a week ago.  Mu cmputer is three years old.  Do I need to allow the Program to connect?  If Not, how do I turn it off?  Thanks,  T Morris

T Morris,

Look for an entry on the Startup tab of MSCONFIG called WkDetect. That is the Works Update detection program. It may have been inadvertently checked recently which is why it suddenly appeared. You can uncheck it and it will no longer ask for permission to access the Net.
