missing components

1.  I cannot find clipboard viewer on my computer.  I checked in Add/Remove programs and it is in there and I even uninstalled and reinstalled it but I can't find it under accesories or anywhere else.
2.  Ditto for scan disk under system tools.  I can't find it and for the system tools I don't know where to go to get it since I don't see any system tool options located in Add/Remove.  Hope you all can help.

(1)  Clipboard viewer is c:\Windows\System32\clpbrd.exe; for it to show in Start/All programs you must put a short-cut there yourself.  You can also run it from Start/Run (you do not need the path, just clpbrd)

(2)  Scandisk does not exist in XP.  Chkdsk.exe (c:\Windows\System32) does the disk checking and repair.  You can run it from Start/run, or from the Command Prompt (again path is not needed, just chkdsk).

Bill is correct. But scandisk does exist in XP but you have to running a FAT32 file system in order to have that function. Only Chkdsk exists in XP on NTFS.

Actually, scandisk does not exist in XP. If your hard disk is formatted with the FAT32 file system you can run scandisk on it from a floppy diskette but not from within XP.

Thanks for the info i thought that if the volume is formatted in Fat 32 you still had the scandisk utility.  :smileysurprised:
