missing files on reinstall. 600m

i recently deleted the ntldr file and decided just to reinstall windows. i was reinstalling over my old install because i have alot of files on the computer that i do not want to delete. i was in the middle of the install and it almost finished. i started to get a ton of popup messages saying that files were missing asking me to skip over or retry. i have tried it each way and nothing is working. does anybody have any suggestions or fixes because i am running a linux live cd right now and its really getting annoying. my system is an inspiron 600m if that helps at all. if there is no fix i would appreciate anybody telling me how i could get the needed files off of my hard drive before formating the drive.

You can remove the drive and trmporarily attach it to a working pc to salvage the files.  Works best if you attach it to the secondary channel . . the one with CD/DVD drives.  Be sure that second pc has up-to-date antivirus!
