"Missing Operating System" after Windows 10 Install

After installing Windows 10 on my desktop PC, I now get a black screen with "missing operating system" displayed in the left corner of the screen.  I can't get out of the screen.  Nothing works, the computer is useless.  Any suggestions to help me out of this black hole?

What model of Desktop PC? Did Windows 10 install successfully? Did you manage to boot to the Windows 10 Desktop before this issue occurred?

Have you ran F2 preboot diagnostics?

I have a Dell Inspiron.  Yes, Windows 10 loaded and I was using it for about an hour.  I believe I shut it down for the night and then had the problem.  I cannot run the F2 diagnostics - none of my F keys do anything.

There are many models of Inspiron what one exactly e.g. Inspiron 530?

What happens if you hold down the power button for 30 s then pull out the power cable.

If you then try to power up what happens?
