Missing Prefetch folder
Hi:
I recently discovered the Prefetch folder under Windows is gone.
I tried to create another one under Windows, but seems it does not work as before because used to have many application temp files stored there.
I have no idea where those temp files are stored now, checked Windows\Temp and seems it is pretty clean also.
Are there any adverse effects and any way that I can restore it back and have it functioned like before?
Thanks for your help.

Have you disabled Task Scheduler service? Doing so will remove the Prefetch folder. Check by going to Start|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Component Services|Services (Local). Right-click Task Scheduler and select Properties. The service should be started and the Startup type on the properties dialog should be "Automatic."

Hi:
Thanks for your tip, and yes, I did turn off the task scheduler after visiting a recommended site by MS for Windows XP services, which suggested Task Scheduler is not really necessary.
I have seen those familiar files (although I don't know what are they) back to the folder after Task Scheduler service is being turned on.
Thanks again.
