What are WIA drivers?

WIA = Windows Image Acquisition

That is a Canon protocol for scanners - very strange for a camera.

From personal experience (with Olympus), the camera simply plugs into a USB port and looks like a disk drive full of JPG files (or raw data)

What version of the Kodak Easyshare software is installed on your computer? It is supposed to handle the data transfer.

I have the Easyshare 6.0. installed. I tried version 5 and version 4. Other people I have talked to who have XP home edition said they had no problem installing their cameras.

I do have SP2 on my computer. Windows update is enabled for automatic and I have double checked that all available updates have  been installed.

The WIA drivers  are built into Windows. It is Windows update which would install the newest drivers. Is your computer at SP2 of XP? If not, you should enable Windows update to upgrade.

The camera should work as other cameras, plug and play.

A friend of mine has a CD with XP SP2 on it that he got with his Dell computer. Would I be able to put his CD in my computer and re-install it??. Would it only add the components that mine was missing? Or does anyone know if on that disk there is a file for plug and play device drivers.

 I have a Kodak camera CX7530 and it works fine by just plugging it in to a USB port and accessing the photos in Windows Explorer, the Windows Camera and Scanner Wizard or the Kodak software--which I don't like and never use.

When I plug in my camera to the usb port, the add new hardware wizard detects it but cannot find any drivers for it. I have tried going through the add camera and scanner wizard but it dosen't work. I have tried everything that the Kodak tech support can think of but nothing works. Kodak said my computer is missing the WIA drivers.

if you can write cd's see if anyone of your friends has the cd or etc and tell them to iso it and send it to you by e-mail. This can work.

I finally gave up on ever getting the proper drivers on my XP home edition so I set up a duel boot system using windows XP professional. Without all of the extra programs it actually a very small operating system, using only 1.5 GB. The good thing is that is will recognize my digital camera, scanner and mp3 player where the Home Edition wouldn't..
