MMC file lost

I went to use the device manager and I get the following error "Windows cannot find mmc.exe file"  Does anybody know what happened and how I can get it back?  Thank you in advance.

Have you searched for the file under Start, Search?
You can also make a desktop shortcut with the following command:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc

That file should be in c:\windows\system32

Sounds like you should run a system file check on your machine to replace missing or corrupted system files.

Click start>run
type in: sfc /scannow
(put a space between sfc and /)
Click OK

sfc will check all the system files and restore any missing or corrupted files from backup copies stored on the HD. If it can't find what it needs, sfc will ask you to insert the Windows CD into the drive.

Thanks, Ron. During this process (sfc /scannow), I was asked to insert the Direct X 9.0 Intallation CD. Have looked through all of my CDs and can't find anything called this. Any suggestions?
