These are the specifications for the card slots on that system - as long as your replacement corresponds, you should be all set:

PCI PCMCIA controller: Cirrus Logic CL-PD6730, 2.01-compatible
PC Card connectors: 2 (for 2 type I or type II cards or one type III card)
Cards supported:  3.3- and 5-V
PC Card connector size:  68 pins
Data width (maximum):  32 bits

The model below at the following link will work (as will some others)  http://www.zoom.com/products/dial_up_pc_card.html

Model 3000 - PC 56K-PC Card Modem
56 Kbps Controllerless PC Card

I'd make sure that the product documentation for the card you choose specifically includes Windows 95 as a supported operating system.  Many newer PCMCIA modems don't appear to.

Flooby, thanks for info.  I've been trying to use your information to find a compatible 3Com/Robotics 56k (or other brand) that has 2 connectors, one is the XJ connector, I think that is what it is called.  I have that now; one connector stopped working so I switched to the pull-out XJ connector.  I found one for Win95 but unsure about the card types, pins and 32 bits.  Would appreciate your help again.  Thanks.

I'd suggest just brining the notebook into any local supplier with reasonably competent, PC savvy staff (CompUSA, etc.), and letting them set you up with a modem that is compatible.  It may not be the exact model you currently have, but it'll work.
