modify autoexec.bat for window xp?
I was instructed by technical support at Mcafee.com to modify my autoexec.bat file because of problems running their antivrus software. I am unable to modify this file with cmd.exe from the run menu. Can anyone offer assistance to modify the autoexec.bat file?
I get the following error message: c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications

You can open AUTOEXEC.BAT in Notepad, make any necessary changes and then save the modified file. In Windows XP at logon, the system does not actually execute Autoexec.bat; it merely scans it for environment variables initialized with Set statements.
The fix for the error message you are receiving is here.
