Monitor disposal??

Not sure where I would have posted this as I didn't see a board for it....but....

What is the proper procedure for disposing computer monitors???  We have quite a few and no one in town will take it from us?  How do we get rid of them?

A nice quite quary or landfill, a few buddies, and a shotgun or rifle. Great way to spend a saturday afternoon.

Although shooting dead monitors *is* fun, I believe you may find the information you seek if you contact your local landfill management directly.  Often, they will schedule one day or so each year, to allow people to dispose of toxic stuff (lead-based paint, asbestos, used electronics, etc.).  Check with them.

Hope this helps.

Do you have a local TV repair shop you can give it to?

Maybe they will put it in thier dumpster for commercial pick up.

Or maybe you can just put it out for normal garbage pick up and your  town people will take it or somebody driving by will take it to see if it works and if not they will have to dispose of it.

Most likely they won't bring it back to your garbage.

You do want to find a place to recycle monitors because CRTs are considered hazardous.  I'd trying looking for any recycling places in your area and ask if they handle monitors.  :)

Locally, we are required to take computer monitors to the local 'recycling' center, but old TV's are collected with the normal trash pickup. Makes sense to me.

Dell has a program for recycling old equipment. It on their website You'll pay for it.  I used it to get rid of an old monitor. $14.00 Airborne express picked it up at my door. Well worth the service!
