Mouse Cursor Disappearing
When I move my mouse toward the middle of the screen, an invisible strip going across the entire screen categorically hides my mouse cursor. It occurs if I'm on the desktop, in IE, or in some other app. The strip is not very big, only about the size of a title bar. This occured in the Fall. During the Winter, I reinstalled everything (for house-cleaning purposes). I zeroed out the HD and then began the installation procedure.
The problem has appeared after the clean install. Note: This problem does not occur when I'm in Linux, only in Windows.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this annoyance?

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
The following should help.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem:
My cursor disappears in center of the LCD panel.
Discussion:
This problem occurs after the video BIOS for the Nvidia 4200Go has been updated, but the video drivers have not been updated.
Solution:
A new graphics driver (A05) for the Nvidia 4200Go has been released which allows the cursor to be seen on the entire LCD.
The driver has been posted to http://support.dell.com. The file name is R65893.EXE.
Work Around:
Enable mouse trails to prevent cursor from disappearing.
As a workaround, mouse trails can be enabled to prevent the cursor from disappearing.
Perform the following steps to enable mouse trails:
Click the Start button, point to settings, point to control panel, and click Mouse.
The Mouse Properties window appears.
Click the Pointer Options tab.
Click the check box to Display Pointer Trails.
Click OK.

I am running the latest system drivers (including the NVIDIA A05 Driver released last year.)
I basically downloaded all of the latest drivers from Dell in the winter for the support download site.
Any other ideas?

Make sure you are running the latest video bios as well, released 1/24/04.
Then try to reset your bios defaults.
How do I restore the Setup Defaults on my Dell™ Inspiron™ portable computer?
If still having problem remove the video drivers from Device Manager, then reboot to let Windows reload them.
If still having problems, then use the work around, which is to enable mouse trails.
