Go to the control panel for Screen Resolution and click on "Advanced settings". The multiple display panel may list 2 displays even though you only have one so identify the one you are using and uncheck the other. Check to see if the desktop setting to extended mode and change it.

There is only one display listed - '1. Mobile PC Display'
Any other ideas?
