MS Paint error message at startup
I have a Latitude, running XP and Office, latest patch level. My laptop has 4 logons, MS Paint works fine on 3 of them. On the primary logon that I use most of the time, I get following error message when I startup paint: "MS Paint encountered an error and needs to be terminated. Do you want to report problem to Microsoft..."
Keep in mind that I have the German XP on that particular laptop, the equivalent US error message may be slightly different. I uninstalled and re-installed Paint, but still get the same error message. What else can I do? I hate the thought of re-installing XP, put too much time into customizing the laptop.
No other graphic program is installed.
THanks for your help!
John

Logon to the Primary account you use
Use Search Advanced (1st 3 boxes ticked) for mspaint
should be also found it C:\WINDOWS\system32\mspaint.exe (the vesrion used by System)
As it is also in the DLLCACHE Folder just Right Click the above found \mspaint.exe & Delete , it will be auto replaced from the DLLCACHE.
Try Paint again.
----------------
It should also been found in the Folder
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\mspaint.exe
So if replacing mspaint from the DLLCACHE doesn't fix problem you could try the above Folder version by Double Click on C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\mspaint.exe it.
If that works OK Right Click on it a select "Copy"
then Right Click on C:\WINDOWS\System32|mspaint.exe & select "Open containing Folder"
& Paste to a blank area of Windows replacing the version that exists.
