MS SILVERLIGHT? Is it an automatic update for VISTA?

Hi, I just came across this on Microsoft's site? It is called Microsoft SILVERLIGHT that will enhance the internet serfing experience. Do we with VISTA has to manually down load this add-on or will VISTA automatically do this to improve the serfing experience? http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight snow

You don't want to download that yet. It's MS' competition for Adobe Flash. You don't need it and it's still experimental. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverlight

Thanking you Mary, My son [6 years old] plays few simple games on the internet sites and his games uses Adobe Flash Player Active X & Adobe Shockwave Player. It is at present working well. I shall not make him unhappy by trying this SILVERLIGHT and it may stop my computer performance. Thanking you snow

Many Adobe problems come from the fact that updates do not remove previous versions. You might try uninstalling all Adobe programs and downloading the latest Adobe Flash and Shockwave files again. Reboot and reinstall the latest versions of Flash & Shockwave. That should solve your problem.

There's no problem with Adobe Flash player after the installation of Silverlight. Its because, if the content on page has Flash script then it uses Flash Plug-in in browsers and if the content on the page is Silverlight script then it uses Silverlight Plug-in. So, i want to make clear that the Silverlight which you talking about is just a plug-in thing for your browser. So, no problem with flash games which your child plays online.

And one more thing that you want to know is that you must Download it Manually with the moment...And you ain't be getting it through an update pack of Windows, i.e. you ain't getting it Automatically.

So, Go Ahead Download It!!

Hi Marsameed, Thanks for that information. I also listen to internet radio streeming. Will this have any conflicts with that? What is your opinion? By the way have you had the chance to try this add-on? snow

Mary G, Why would Snow uninstall all Adobe programs and download the latest versions? And what problem is this supposed to solve??? Snow indicated that 'It is at present working well'.

Snow,      Silverlight ain't gonna harm your system in any area nor it gonna effect your browsing way. Its just a plug-in thing. There's no questions of problems at all. The Silverlight is designed to make a high defination DVD quality media content easy to transfer from Server to Client side or say throgh out the net(System to System Via HTTP). In future you may expect Microsoft to create an online Theater through this Technology!!      So, no questions of harming your your online streaming broadcast thing!!   Thanks!!
