MS Visual C++ Runtime error Dell Media Experience

Hi:
When I attempt to open Dell Media Experience (to watch a DVD),
I get the following error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Program: C:\Program Files\Dell\Media Experience\PCM2.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

If I try to click on other options (Music, Video, Help, Settings), it freezes up and I have
to go thru the Task Manager to shut it down.

Any thoughts or suggestions?  Thanks very much in advance!!
I have an Inspiron 8600, windows XP.

:)  :)

Kayakrazy1,
You might like to visit Cyberlink's support site.  May be a clue there as to why Power Cinema is bombing out:  http://www.cyberlink.com/english/cs/support/new_site/support_index.html

Hi,

I get exactly the same error message: C:\Program Files\DELL\Media Experience\PCM2.EXE  Application has requested Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Contact applications support team.  I have followed the treadon explorer run time errors, and I have followed their suggestions, but it didnt fix the problem.

Anybody  has a suggestion?

Thanks!!

Rebecahwang,

If you are using the trial version of Power Cinema, Cyberlink recommends that you remove your antispyware program until the trial period has expired:  http://www.cyberlink.com/english/cs/support/faq_2153.html .

Huh!  I don't like that little piece of advice either.

Other recommendations include uninstalling third party toolbars such as the Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, etc.

Hi, thanks a lot for the tips-  I am actually not using a trial version of Dell Media Experience, and when the error started occuring I had no antispyware program (now I do!). I have tried disinstalling all the toolbards and disenabling the third party toolbars under Internet Options. I even tried getting rid of most browser helpers but still could not get the program to work :(

Strangely, my Power Cinema, Cyberlink, works, as all other media players. The only one that fails is Dell Media Experience...

Thanks a lot!!!

I'm getting the same error, only it's not when I watch a dvd in Media experience it's when I start Dell's Media Direct. Did anyone ever find a solution?
