MSHTML.DLL error

Whenever I go to windows update I receive a MSHTML.dll error and iexplorer shuts down.  I've read there is a fix on windows update, but can't get to it because I recieve this error.  What can I do?

birdman11,

See if here addresses your problem. (You didn't post the exact error message you receive, so this is an educated guess.)

birdman11,

You should used Method 2, which extracts the necessary file from files on your hard disk.

Alternatively, if you are using IE6 SP1, click my user name and email me with a request and I'll send you the version used by that version of the browser.

Denny Denham your educated guess is correct, but when I try to download to reinstall explorer I receive the message, "Explorer has caused an error in MSHTML.DLL.  Explorer will now close".    Then I'm back where I started.
