Musicmatch problems

Not sure if I'm in the right forum for this subject.  Recently received my new Dimension 3000 with Windows XP after years of using Window 98. I'm having lock-up and shut-down problems - especially with Musicmatch.  While copying a CD it will do 15 tracks and then stops.  If I try to cancel the copy process it locks up and I can't even shut it down with Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I have to end each program that is not responding and then the Windows XP closing down screen locks up and I have to shut off using the on/off button on my computer.  Did I buy a "dud" - Is Windows XP the problem? - Or, is there help for these issues.  Please help me as I am totally lost in this new computer world. I will provide any other info about my new system, if needed.  Thanks.

There have been other posts about MMJB and CD burning.  Have you tried the CD Burning software that was included with the PC?  If that software works, the problem is most likely with MMJB.

I have the latest "Plus" (paid for) version of MMJB and although I don't use if for CD burning, I tried it and it worked without problems.

Thank you for responding.  The computer came with Sonic installed on it and it did the same thing with the CD I was trying to copy.  The other CD copied just fine.  Is it possible that the last three tracks could be locked?  And if so, shouldn't the program tell you something instead of just freezing?

ARose~

I've been using MMJB, which came on my computer, for a couple of years, now.  I purchased the "all future updates" option and have updated several times.  The last time I updated must have caused a slight problem because after I burned a CD and started to print the jewel case insert, there appeared 5 error dialog boxes stating that some CoreDll.dll files could not be found in the dynamic link library, but the insert would print, anyway.  I finally completely uninstalled and reinstalled, instead of updating over the old product, and this seemed to eliminate that particular problem.  The first time I opened MMJB after doing this, MMJB Plus was not shown, and I had to reenter the key to activate the "Plus" part.  To find your key, click on help in MMJB.  I suppose the point to all of that is to suggest that you uninstall/reinstall to see if that fixes your problem.

Now for my problem with MMJB.  I need to ask a question about "burn to CD license" but have been unable to use the form on the MMJB support page.  I reinstalled my browser, tried using IE, ran a trouble shooting tool I found on a Dell site, etc.  Three times, I've filled out the form, clicked "submit" and waited for the job to complete.  Each time it's hung up on job 83, whatever that is, and I got the message that either Yahoo or IE has encountered a problem while gathering system information.  Does anyone have any idea as to what is causing this and what to do about it?  Thanks.

I got the Job 83 error as well.  When you try to submit a problem to MM tech support it hangs with "Job 83" in the status bar.  Enable internet security for ActiveX and Java script and you should be OK.

Thanks for your reply, but it was over a year ago when I posted this.  I'm no longer having the problem.  It seemed to correct itself with no intervention on my part.

Whoops!  Not that it matters, but I have since upgraded to WinXP SP2 and have added a 512MB memory module.
