My Documents

I was moving the my Documents folder to my other hard drive, and I accidentally deleted some of the stuff in it (i.e. My Pictures). Is there a way to get the original files back? I don't have an unerase program or anything installed.

Thanks

Yeah, I think they were overwrited. I think it's too late for the utility, though.

If you accidentally deleted some files, they should still be in the recycle bin. If they are not, you may be able to find a freeware utility here.

fsx,
If Osprey's suggestion didn't work, and you really want those pictures back, go to www.download.com. Download and install Bad Copy Pro.  Once you find the files, you can purchase the full version once you find your deleted files. Price is nominal.

Unless you are using hard drive sanitizing programs which adhere to DOD or German government standards, it is almost impossible to overwrite all your files.  Some of them will be completely recoverable even if the hard drive is partially low-level formatted.  That's why you can never delete certain index.dat files on your system.  Index.dat files are specifically designed to assist in forensic reconstruction of data.  I've used almost all professional data recovery programs. Bad Copy Pro succeeds where the most expensive programs fail. Especially useful for corrupt hard drives, CDs, CD-R/Ws, ZIP disks, Floppy Disks, Smart Cards, Compact Flash, USB Thumb drives, etc.

Be sure to read notes for SP2 users.
