Mystery program, volume control problem.

Hey there. I recently did a format/OS-reinstall on my laptop. (Which uses an inspiron shell but dell refers to as an XPS.) There's a few keys on the front of the machine that used to mute and control the machine's volume, but they're no longer working. Can anyone tell me the name of the control program for the keys?

Media Experience or Media Direct. Did you install the Notebook System Software? That controls lots of notebook features. It should have been installed first with the chipset drivers and before all the other drivers.

And if Mary G's suggestion doesn't help, go to this page and look for the link to Tweak UI for Win XP, free from Microsoft. Run TUI and expand list under Explorer on left side. Click Command keys and see if you can make the necesary settings in the pane on the right.
