Need SATA Driver

My Dell XPS600 is down.  I lost my OS so I am now in the process of reinstalling Win XP.  My problem is that I can't extract the SATA HD driver from my resources disk since it is only good on a Dell computer.  I have tried to use my Compaq laptop but to no avail.   Is there a place I can download the driver on to a 1.44 floppy so I can get back in action?

Extract these files to your floppy diskette.

Mombo....I downloaded the file and extracted it to my floppy, but when it came time to enter it I got a notice that "The file txtsetup.oem could not be found".  Press any key to continue....and that takes me back to square one.  I have not got the foggiest what the txtsetup is or where it can be found.  Got any ideas on this?

Disregard the above, Mombo....I entered txtsetup.oem in search and it came up with the .exe file.
I have the system ready to load Win XP now  Thanks for your support

Mombo it looks like I spoke too soon.  The program loaded like it should, but there is a problem.  After it completes and is ready to accept the Win XP install disk, it comes up and says that there are no hard drives on my computer.  Actually, I have three.  Drive 0, 160GB Maxtor, Drive 1, 160GB Western, and drive 2 is a Maxtor 320GB.  I am wondering if this could be a motherboard problem, or something less.

You have to boot from the XP cd, then hit F6 at the beggining to load the drivers from a floppy drive.

Houston, We have a problem.  That was what I heard 'way back when I was on the console for
Apollo 13....now it's happing to me....The latest note to pop up says...Drive 2 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-2.   ALERT!  Previous attempts at booting this system have failed at checkpoint [Bye ].  For help in resolving this problem, please note this checkpoint and contact Dell Technical Support.

Looks like a phone call to India is in the making.

Reboot and press F2 to run BIOS setup. Find and disable the entry for SATA-2 controller. Save the change and exit setup with XP CD in the optical drive. It should boot from CD and start the reinstall.

Alternatively, run BIOS setup and change the hard drive setting from RAID to RAID AUTO/ATA. That way you won't have to install the SATA drivers during the XP reinstall.

Hi, I just want to take a moment to thank everyone for the help and very valuable assistance that was given me in getting my computer back up.  After a lot of troubleshooting and searching, I finally found that I had a defective cable on my SATA-2 drive.  Win XP has now been reinstalled and I will begin to load in the programs on the new HDs.

Thanks again,
