Need to restore back to Windows 7

I bought my Dell Inspiron N4110 for 2 years ago. After updating to Windows 8, i feel it is very hard to use so i decide to restore back to Windows 7. But i have only restore partition and i doesn't have Dell Local Backup after the refresh. How can i restore to Windows 7?

I figure you probably formatted the drive to install Win 8 so you will need the Win 7 dvd to install Win 7 back on to your laptop. If you do not have the Win 7 dvd you will have to order it. You can look here to order it if you do not have it.

Hi Vinhtq115,

There is a possibility of restoring your computer to factory settings if you have installed Windows 8 over the Windows 7 OS on your computer and not attempted a clean installation of the same. You would however lose all stored data hence, if you are able to boot to windows, it is recommended that you back up relevant data on an external storage device prior to restoring the system.

This step is possible only if the imaged partition is not corrupt or has been previously deleted.

Click on the link below for steps to restore Windows 7 to factory settings:

Please reply if you have further queries.

Thanks and regards,

See Windows Reinstallation Guide/A Clean install of Windows 7:

Contact Dell Technical Support in your region and request a Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD.

Okay, now i can't find the "Dell Factory Image Restore" menu. My computer, first, it was Windows 7, after that, i upgraded to Windows 8. Last month, i refreshed my computer. So is that why i can't see the Dell Factory Image Restore?

Hi Vinhtq115,

Thank you for your reply.

There may be a possibility that you have lost the Dell Factory Image Restore option while installing Windows 8.  If that is the case, then you may have to re-install Windows 7 using the Windows disk.  If you have created the Recovery Discs prior to upgrading to Windows 8 (as is recommended), you can use them to restore the computer. It is recommended that you back up relevant data on an external storage device prior to restoring the system to avoid data loss.

Let us know if further help is needed.

Thanks and regards,
Babita S
