Kanti,

I assume you didn't have any luck with a retry. Please make sure that no antivirus programs are running during the install, and it might be a good idea to disable any firewall you have installed. One thing suggested in a newsgroup is to right click the NSSetupB.exe file, choose Properties, Compatibility, and choose to run in the Win95 compatibility mode. I doubt, however, that it will help.

Concerning the Mozilla 1.0.1 browser download... That was merely a suggestion if you could not get NS 7.0 to install, and you wanted an updated browser. Except for the branding icons, Netscape 7.0 and Mozilla 1.0 look and behave similarly since NS 7.0 was based on this build. Downloading Mozilla should not be necessary to get NS 7.0 to install, and I doubt you would want both browsers since their behavior is so similar.

Ygor,

I have now installed the Netscape 7.0 as suggested by you. Right click the NSSetupB.exe file>Property>Compatibility I started from higher. I mean Windows 2000 but got an error message. Next I choose Windows 98/Windows Me and it worked. I did not try Windows 95.

However, now a big problem. I am not getting connection to internet and get the message "the connection was refused when attempting to contact home.netscape.com". I checked in Help & Support of Netscape and make the necessary entries for proxy from Edit>Advance. But no connection.

Have any suggestion?

Kanti

Kanti,

I am a little confused. Don't you need to choose Direct Connection to Internet and not set up a proxy? Are you having trouble connecting to all sites or just home.netscape.com. Also, you may need to change some firewall settings so that netscape.exe is allowed to make an internet connection.

Ygor,

Yes, you are right. I have set up "Direct Connection to Internet" and no need for proxy entries at all. I have no proxy entries. However, when Netscape was not able to get the connection I thought to enter proxy info in Netscape>Performance>Advance to see if it get the connection. But I get the "connection was refused when attempting to contact home.netscape.com" evem with proxy info. In fact further problem came up that whenever, I tried to go to internet in my normal way through my ISP webpage the Netscape page load and get the same message "connection refused home.netscape.com". NS got crossed with my own ISP connection. Finally, got fed up with NS and uninstalled it. I am back to normal but without NS. My firewal is seagatge and it is in normal mode. Any one can try to get into my system but have to get my permission. In case of NS it did not get the connection - hence I don't get message from my Firewall for permission to allow NS.

Ygor:

I have now installed Netscape Version 6.2.3 (Canadian) without any problems. Hence, I am back to my previous version of NS. It is their new Version 7.0 which is stupid! No wonder why Netscape is falling behind in popularity. Is there any forum on Netscape? Will you please give me the web address of it?

I appreciate your help and trouble you took for me.
