network cable is unpluged while network is plugged in.

Hi,
why error: network cable is unpluged while network is plugged in correctly?

I have insprion 5150, I had no problem with my Local Area Network and Bradcom 440x 10/100 during the period of time that I was using it.

2 weeks ago after I update my Microsoft Windows XP, and it installed Microsoft Dot Net 2.0 and few other security updates, and restart my computer, my Local Area Network starts giving my network cable unplugged error every 30 minutes.

All those updates could have messed around with your drivers, so check and update them. Also, settings may have been changed, so try as system restore.  It could be coincidence and one of you wires or something else died, but that seems unlikely. Finally, I would post in the NETWORK section of the forum because someone will probably be able to give you better advice.

I used to get that error message once or twice a day with a Dimension 4600.  Went crazy trying to figure it out.  Finally, Dell agreed to replace the motherboard and the problem vanished.  May not help you but if you have integrated ethernet, there may be no other solution.

If you do the System Restore that was suggested in an earlier post, you'll lose all the updates you just installed. While that may make your 'network unplugged' error disappear, you won't have the protection that the updates were supposed to provide.

Perhaps you should uninstall the network drivers and reinstall them, with all the updates in place.

Dear Ron,

I try to install my driver again, and download the latest driver from broadcom.com, I didn't have any problem after I reinstall my driver, since I restart my computer. after restart, again plug in, unplugged ...

Try reposting this on the Inspiron-Network forum. Maybe somebody who has the same system knows how to fix this problem.

Good luck!
