New Notebook/Microsoft PhotoDraw problem

I recently acquired an Inspiron 9000 notebook, which I'm very happy with -- save for one thing. I have an older copy of Microsoft PhotoDraw, which is a favorite program of mine and one I use frequently. I have tried to load it onto the Inspiron, but it doesn't seem to want to take; every time I try to open it, I get this message saying there is a problem, and it has to be shut down. Does anyone out there know if there's a separate program that must be added for older software like this or some kind of fix for the problem so I can run the thing? Thank you.:smileyindifferent:

Can you open the properties and change the compatibility mode setting to an earlier version of windows ? Check these links, PhotoDraw has been discontinued although Microsoft still provide product support. Not sure which version you're using but the first link states that PhotoDraw 2000 version 1.0 is not completely compatible with Windows XP

Dear wee.alex:

Thank you for your response to my question. I am getting the error message for PhotoDraw 2000 1.0. I have been unable to find the link to change the compatability mode; however, when I try to install PhotoDraw, I get an icon for compatability with Windows 2000 Professional. I will try to re-install. In the meantime, do you have an idea as to which of the three links you mentioned might give me some help in my quest? Thanks again!

Have a look at this link, you can run the Program Compatibility Wizard in XP. It gives you the choice to use your CD and (hopefully) install your software

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/appcompat.mspx

Start - Help and Support - Application and Software Problems - Getting Older Programs to Run On Windows XP - Program Compatibility Wizard - Next -  Highlight 'I want to use the program in the CD-ROM drive'

Dear weealex:

Thanks for the suggestion; however, I tried it and still nothing. I can't seem to find any upgrades or downloads on Microsoft's site that might apply. I will entertain any suggestions... any at all.
