NO PROBLEMS

I installed Vista last nite in 2 hrs. I did exactly as was said in the instruction book. Vista installed with ease! Dont know what was so difficult about it. I wish all my upgrades were as easy! My System: Lat. D620 1.0gb ram, IntelGraph950, 80gigHD, 350Bluetooth, DVD+/-RW, Intel 3945WLAN (802.11a/g)

I had a similar experience with my E520.  The upgrade disk arrived at lunch time, I ran the Dell Upgrade Assistant and started Vista.  Then I cut the grass and checked, it was 40% complete.  I took a shower and then it was finished.  My biggest problem was finding the add/delete programs which is renamed in Vista.

I agree that this was as easy as any operating system I have ever installed, and the Dell disk was a big help.  I think that many people who are posting have never had the experience of installing OSs before, the first time can be unnerving.  The other thing you said that is so important, follow the directions.

I just got the vista upgrade yesterday, then it installed the moment I received it. The Dell vista upgrade made things simple, as everything was automatic.

When I inserted the Vista upgrade CD, I did a clean installation and everything went well. it took about 1 hour for everything to be finish. And didn’t any receive any errors, so that’s good. Overall, Instillation is effortless, just fallow the directions as described in the manual, and everything will go down ok.

Well now that I got windows vista, I'm never going back to Xp. Vista is way faster and i love all the features. And since I did the clean install, the computer works like new, only now with vista. yay.

My system: Windows Xp Pro, XPS 410-Intel Pentium D 2.8, 1GB of Ram, 160GB HD, 7300 Nvidia Graphics card, 1024-768 screen

I got E520 last night and installed Vista but the Sad point is, it doesn't support my other software. So going to call Dell to send me the XP media CD. Vista is good but still needs some more usability issue to fix

Hi,

I've got a xps410, E6300@ 1.85 ghz, 2 gigs of ram. 250gb sata II HD geforce 7600GT video card.
I have the Vista Upgrade disk and I have tried the upgrade, keep getting same error: Worker thread returned...URL........So my questions are....What do I do with the Norton security suite, disable or unistall? What about my pictures and documents and favorites? Also my applications, what becomes of them upon doing a clean install. I don't have many applications since my computer is only 3 months old. Could you help me out? I do have a Lexmark z605 printer and the Vista drivers are out yet, will my printer still work if Vista gets installed? Thanks in advance.

Vista is working well with me too. Despite a few program quirks. Everything is okay.

I just have Vista Basic though.

1) First and up most priority is to remove ALL security software that is not compatible with vista, this will assure that non will interfere with the instillation of vista. Secondly, it is recommend that you back up your important files (pictures, emails, favorites) especially if your doing a clean install, as everything will be erased. You can used the files and transfer wizard.

2) BTW, if your doing a clean install EVERYthing is going to deleleted.

3) When you get Windows vista all set up, just plug in your printer, and it should automatically be installed.

4) Lastly, install your software’s, perform windows update, export files.

Hope this helps.

To be sure that everything will go right, I would just uninstall NIS 2007 even thought it is Vista compatble, and install it, when you got vista all set up.

No problem here as well.  Did a clean install and am in the process of reloading all my software.  So far this too has been no problem.  I have a lot to learn about Vista it seems a great improvement.

No problems here either. Ive installed Vista Business on a second partition with XP. Everything runs fine, all drivers/programs etc work perfect. It runs like a charm and my laptop seems to be loving it. Although more resource intensive, its actually using your resources better then XP did. For example, Vista may use more RAM then xp, but its putting the RAM to use. What sthe point of having the RAM if you want it free all the time.

I have 3GB RAM, and the most its ever used is about 1.2GB at any one time (I have a ram and dual core cpu monitor in my gadgets).

Office 2007 also runs a charm.

Im gonna ditch XP and do a clean re-install of Vista soon, just waiting for my new HDD to arrive, which is taking a while since its just been released (SATA 160GB 7200rpm!!).
